And he commanded them that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.

New School year/ Mary Blogs?

I have been meaning to get on here for forever and do some catch up pictures. It's an intimidating task since I don't think I've put anything on here for 1 or maybe even 2 years. What I've decided to do is when I put current stuff I'll add some past stuff too. I look at the blog all the time although I havn't been contributing. these pics are the first day of school for Emma (5th), Parley (4th), Lucy (3rd) and Eliza (1st). Vilate is old enough for kindergarten but we decided to wait. She doesn't seem ready. In January she should qualify for EAK (early admission kindergarten) which will help her to prepare for kindergarten and is free through our school district.

The other picture shown is from this last Easter.

I love you all and hope to be much better at blogging. oh, and Thank you for my baby countdown on here. I have no clue how to do it. Baby Samuel Jack will be here so soon!

February's Minutes

Once again everyone, I had fun talking to you all! It's great to hear everyone's thoughts on the things we study about. Here are the minutes for this month:

Opening song:
Opening prayer: Mom

Announcements:

Mary: Lucy is doing well. She is getting a partial retainer (did I get that right?). It will keep the space where her permanent teeth are supposed to be so she can get the implants when she is older. Mary is pregnant and the baby is doing well.

Tiffany: Jacob made W2 yesterday. Hooray! Tiffany has lost 13 1/2 pounds doing weight watchers and should loose 30 by Rebekah's baptism. We've had blizzard conditions here, and it's been FUN.

Nettie: Tustin turned 5. Naomi took 3 steps yesterday. Travis isn't sure if he will be fishing for work this summer due to the licensing issues going on this year. He might do construction this year. They are getting a high tunnel for their garden this year. The government is going to reimburse them the cost of the tunnel, for seeds and for irrigation, and in return they get to keep the crops and have to report on how well it works. (how awesome!)

Rachel: Samuel is turning 3 and Matthew just turned 1 this week. They are having a party at Mom's house today to celebrate. Henry is going to Brazil for about 3 weeks to take care of business there and Teresa is going also.

Mom: She is making Dad's Davy Crockett costume for his choir performance, and has also been doing sewing repairs around the house such as curtains for the boy's window.

Mom asked us to find something in nature that is a type of Christ. Mary's was a worm. It eats the dirt and turns it into something good. Christ took persecution willingly and takes the lowliest of us and makes it into something good and wonderful. Nettie's was the sun. It is the light of the world just as Christ is. Tiffany's was also the sun. In the winter we know the sun will someday return just like we know Christ will one day return.

The things of note we noticed in our reading of the Pearl of Great Price were:

Mary: At the end it kept saying to keep these things sacred and not show them to people that don't believe.

Tiffany: Jacob noticed that all things were created spiritually before the earth was created and man, Adam, was the first thing created in the flesh and put in the Garden of Eden.

Nettie: Moses 5? tells of keeping a book of remembrance. It reminded her of the importance of journaling things and also brought to mind Samuel the Lamanite and how he asked the people did they not remember the signs and things which were told onto them. Did they not write them down?

Meeting our goals for the month:
Tiffany is loosing weight with Weight Watchers
Mary is going to work harder on being a good missionary and giving out pass along cards
Nettie is going to get going on Weight Watchers (it's worth it ned!)

Our next meeting will be on food storage and cooking. We each need to collect recipes from food storage only items and come back with reviews: Did you like it? Was it worth the effort? Would you make it again? Mary will get to us with more information on it later.

Next meeting: March 26th

If I missed anything, let me know or go ahead and edit the post

January Minutes

Opening Song: Today While the Sun Shines

Prayer: Mom

Mom's Goals: Mom refined last years goals. Decided she would rather be a volunteer doula than being on call at all times. She did get her certificate this past year. She bought tons of buckets for food storage and water barrels and is working on getting them filled with her years supply. Instead of one sewing project a month she is going to make two pairs of pajamas a month for the grandkids' Christmas jammies. She and Dad have a list made up of good books that they would like to read together.

Mary's goals: Call VT sisters by the first week of the month. She is going to be more organized with chores for the kids. They had a FHE lesson with the kids to get that started. She is also going to have her FHE planning done on Saturday or before that if possible.

Tiff's goals: Being positive with the kids and focusing on the positive they do each day, and be more organized with school. She is joining weight watchers and is going to eat healthier. She will be working on crafting as usual, but this years major craft goal is to focus on drawing portraits and would like to be able to draw a good picture of each of the kids by the end of the year.

Nettie's goals: She will be practicing the piano 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. She is also going to do weight watchers and eat healthier. She will be exercising 3x a week to strengthen muscles. She is going to work on anger/voice tone control when talking to the children and Travis. She and Travis are going to work on budgeting their money better.

Rachel's goals: She is going to focus on joy in her life this year. She is going to try to be more joyful and less angry. She is going to read at the beginning of each month the talk, "Finding Joy in the Journey, and she is going to blog once a week on her new blog. Her family has started FHE (the whole household) and they are going to do it regularly throughout the year. (4 weeks and counting already!)

Announcements: No one is pregnant. (sorry Mom!) Nettie's car is fixed and they are heading back to Soldotna as soon as PLASR is over. Mom challenged us to take a picture a day for the whole year. (not sure if that was just to me or if it was a challenge to everyone?)

Closing prayer: Rachel

Next meeting will be on February 12. Our task is to read two pages of the Pearl of Great Price until then and rememorize all 13 Articles of Faith by then.

Thanks for the great encouragement to set goals and go after them Rachel! It's always great to start fresh each year and try to become a better person. See you next month everyone.
